### How green the fields are

Greenness of North Korea’s cropland from May to September each year, seen from space. Drought and flood years show as dips.

**Note:** Mean NDVI from May to September over cropland (MODIS land cover of 2020, croplands and cropland mosaic), from 16-day MODIS composites with snow and cloud removed. Low years match reported droughts and floods: the springs of 2001, 2012, 2014 and 2015, the summers of 2007 and 2020\. Greenness is not harvest.
